The main dial on my Canon 5D Mark IV is not working to make adjustments while in any of the modes. I can hit the quick (Q) button and make adjustments or use it in settings other than went in in a shooting mode.
Oh by the way when I press the SHUTTER button, nothing! You guessed it! I can't take photos either. The camera when it is turned to ON position, shows "the image" on the display screen, but nothing happens when I press the red record button. I have turned the camera to the ON and OFF positions as well and still nothing.

After a bit of research, I discovered that the 18-105 kit lens is not well made and has problems making a firm contact with the camera. Many times when the camera refused to take a picture (even if I went totally manual), I could get it to work by gently tightening the lens a bit.
